The roar of jet engines over Lake Michigan signals one thing: the Chicago Air & Water Show is back. As one of the city’s most iconic summer events, it draws millions to the lakefront every year for a breathtaking blend of aviation stunts, parachute jumps, and water rescue demonstrations. First held in 1959, this event has grown into the largest free show of its kind in the United States, and the 2025 edition promises all the thrills, nostalgia, and photo-worthy moments fans have come to expect.

This year also marks a special tribute—the 250th anniversary of the United States Army and United States Marine Corps—making the weekend’s military performances even more meaningful. While the U.S. Navy will not be participating in 2025, their historic role as a founding participant of the show is still honored.

The Lakefront Trail is open, and Divvy stations are near North Avenue and Fullerton. Park your bike before reaching crowded viewing areas.
