Many were surprised when Chicago Gold Coast staple Tavern on Rush announced it was closing last year, but Rush Street is one of the most popular dining areas in Chicago, so it was bound to find new owners soon. The two-floor space will now feature contemporary American fare for lunch, dinner and late-night cocktails as a fresh an reimagined space called The Bellevue.

The new owners are modernizing the space by increasing the bar area, adding a 100-seat sidewalk café and updating the second floor now with an open kitchen and sweeping views of Rush Street, Mariano Park and the surrounding area from freshly installed nano doors.

Nationally recognized, top hospitality interior design firm Knauer Incorporated, was tapped to redesign the space. Taking inspiration from classic Chicago and American establishments, the firm chose a modern color palette accented with rich leathers, brass and velvet, plus a range of unique artwork, including black and white photos and custom murals.

Coming in Spring of 2023, The Bellevue will certainly be a highly-anticipated opening.
