If you are still at a loss, you can always make a donation to a charity in that person’s name and do something twice as good this holiday season!

One of my favorite organizations is Kiva.org which provides microlending (small loans) to individuals across the world to help them start small businesses or give them the tools they need to provide for themselves.  Because these are loans, the amount gets paid back to the organization which then goes to another individual who needs a small loan.  So literally this is a gift that keeps on giving!

Of course all donations are helpful, especially for other great organizations like =The Red Cross, The American Cancer Society, The Anti-Cruelty Society, The Greater Chicago Food Depository, and Lurie Children’s Hospital .  For a giant list of organizations in Chicago, click here.
