Today, Monday, January 3, 2022 begins the City’s requirement to show proof of vaccination for spaces like gyms, restaurants and recreation spaces where food or beverages are served.
An explosion of positive covid cases has occurred in Chicago last week, with the Sun Times reporting a record 30,000 new positive tests as of Thursday, December 30, 2021, making it the most cases Chicago has seen in yet to date.
The omicron variant is so far appearing to be highly transmissible according to the CDC, and vaccines are strongly recommended.
Doctors and researchers are discouraging cloth masks, and instead recommend “N95 or similar high-filtration respirator when you’re in public indoor spaces.”
What does this mean for event planners and industry professionals?
